From financial smarts to technical troubleshooting, these resources can help new and returning students build a strong foundation for success.

There’s no reason for students at Virginia Commonwealth University to go it alone when there is a wide range of support in the areas of wellness and academic success.
This guide to the resources, offices and services available can help students organize, connect and strengthen their academic potential.
What: The Campus Learning Center offers tutoring, supplemental instruction, a science hub, academic coaching and a testing center as well as online resources for successful academic habits.
Where: Hibbs Hall, 900 Park Ave., plus virtual meetings
What: Connect with VCU Career Services early in your academic journey to explore and choose a major, meet with an adviser, create a resume, find an internship, prepare for an interview, search for jobs, get ready to apply for graduate school or network with companies and alumni.
Where: University Student Commons, Room 143, 907 Floyd Ave. Satellite office in Hunton Student Center, Suite 205, 1110 E. Broad St., plus online and virtual meetings.
What: Classes and workshops demonstrate how to search for, interpret and use materials in the libraries and databases for academic assignments.
Where: James Branch Cabell Library (Monroe Park Campus), 901 Park Ave., and Health Science Library (MCV Campus), 509 N. 12th St.
What: The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs offers diversity, inclusion and social justice discussions, presentations and workshops, cultural heritage month events, mentorship and leadership engagement opportunities, identity-based discussion groups and diversity and inclusive living-learning floors. Students can get involved by attending or planning events, participating in a discussion group or joining a multicultural leadership council.
Where: University Student Commons, Room 215, 907 Floyd Ave.
What: RecWell is a melding of VCU Recreation and Well-Being, serving the health and well-being needs of VCU students. The online Keep on Being Well website provides a broad range of programs, services, education and outreach to support student and community well-being. Recreational sports is where students can learn about and join various physical and social programs through a variety of spaces, programs and events.
Where: Cary St. Gym, Outing Rental Center, Cary St. Field, MCV Campus Recreation Center (in the Larrick Student Center), Tennis Courts, and 815 S. Cathedral Place.
What: The Student Financial Management Center is not just for students with financial aid but for all students to get a better grasp on tackling finances with expense planning and counseling with staff or peer money coaches in person or online.

What: Master technology with assistance from the Resnet help desk

What: Understanding the writing process, structuring writing for your audience and crafting a framework for academic writing are some of the many workshops available at the VCU Writing Center. Services also include in-person appointments, online consultations and English language resources.
Where: Academic Learning Commons, 1000 Floyd Ave.
What: University Counseling Services offers individual and group clinical services. Focus areas include crisis support, advocacy services, ongoing support related to substance abuse and identity-based resources. In-person and online resources and meetings are available.
Where: 907 Floyd Ave, Suite 238.
What: University Student Health Services is a nationally accredited health care provider that offers primary care services to VCU students. Appointments are required and must be scheduled by phone.
Where: Clinics are available on the Monroe Park and MCV campuses. The Monroe Park Campus clinic houses an on-site pharmacy, and clinics on both campuses offer laboratory services.
